Analyze

Prose and Shape facets, Beat Gaps, Record Gaps, the Editorial Read, and responding to a finding.

The Prose facets are counts you could check by hand — repeated words, sentence openers, filter words, adverbs — and the Shape facets read the analysis's own classifications of your scenes and chapters. Each finding is located in your prose with the evidence beside it. The line under the pane title says how much of the book the analysis has actually read; fully read means reviewed, never all-clear. Nothing here scores your manuscript.

Analyze facets

Analyze lists counted, located measures of your manuscript in two groups. Prose: Repetition, Sentence openers, Filter words, and Adverb overuse. Shape: Scene weight, Dialogue balance, Chapter length, Tension flatness, and Pacing uniformity. The Prose facets are counts you could check by hand; the Shape facets read the analysis's own classifications — each scene's tension and purpose, and each chapter's pacing. Every row shows how much of the book it has read — "reviewed · 47 of 47 chapters" — so a facet with nothing to report is telling you what it examined, not that the book is good. A finding states its claim plainly, with the passages behind it. For each one you choose Add To My Actions, Set Aside, or Decline; nothing here edits your manuscript. Characters, Locations, Timeline, and Beats sit in a Pending group: what the analysis found that your records don't have yet, which you add one at a time.

Read the guide: Reading Analyze

Beat Gaps

A page under Analyze that lists the beats the analysis detected in your scenes that are not yet in your Structure area, chapter by chapter. Nothing moves on its own: Add brings one beat into Structure as your own, and Add all brings across a chapter's pending beats at once. Each chapter's own summary sits on the chapter in the Outline view, which is also where you change your structure.

Record Gaps

A gap check reads your draft for the characters, places, and connections in it, compares them against your records, and reports the difference — who is on the page and not on your list. It reports only; add an item to your records and the scenes it appears in are tagged from what the last run already read, with no re-run and no credits. It lives with the analysis tools under Analyze → Record Gaps.

Editorial Read

A professional second opinion on the whole manuscript, in prose rather than charts: what is working, what is not, and where. It is an opinion, not a measurement — each section is tagged as an opinionated finding so it never reads as fact — and every suggestion carries Add to My Actions so you decide what, if anything, to act on. Nothing is applied to the manuscript. Switch it off in Settings › AI Configuration › AI features if you would rather not see it.

Responding to a finding

Open a finding to respond to it. Add To My Actions puts it on your My Actions to-do list; it changes nothing in the manuscript. The button then reads Added To My Actions, and Done once you tick the action off. Set Aside takes it off the active list for now without grading it. Decline removes it and records that the read was wrong, and the finding won't be raised again. Decline is the only response that grades the finding. Strengths have no Add. Cards in a list offer only Add To My Actions; the full finding has all three.

Set-aside and declined findings leave the list. To change your mind, open the finding and choose Reopen.
