Export and print

EPUB, print PDF and DOCX, Print-Ready Check and preflight, store links and ebook editions.

Export your manuscript to a finished file — EPUB, PDF, or DOCX — formatted by your chosen style template. This is how your book leaves Bookshaper for readers, agents, or print.

EPUB export

Export your manuscript as a reflowable EPUB with CSS styling and font embedding. Output is born-accessible — with accessibility metadata and accessible, dyslexia-friendly body styles (including Atkinson Hyperlegible) — so it clears the EU Accessibility Act bar retailers increasingly require. Run Amazon’s Kindle Previewer on the file without leaving the export dialog.

PDF export and typesetting

Export a print-ready PDF with margins, bleed, gutter settings, and full typographic control. The print engine breaks each paragraph as a whole (the same Knuth–Plass approach as InDesign and LaTeX), justifies at the character level, hangs punctuation into the margin, and penalizes hyphens and runt lines. Front and back matter are included and correctly ordered, and the same input produces the same file every time.

DOCX export and footnotes

Export DOCX for editors and agents. Footnotes are written once and rendered as true bottom-of-page notes in print and tap-to-open popup notes in EPUB.

Ebook editions (Edition picker)

Once a project has Also By This Author books or Author Profile links, the export dialog shows an Edition picker for EPUB: Standard (universal links), a single retailer edition whose buy links all point at that store, or All retailer editions to write every edition at once, each filename suffixed by edition. PDF exports render store links as plain text; DOCX keeps them as live hyperlinks.
